This painting started when I met a young Polish woman in a local coffee shop. What began as a conversation about her white hijab opened into her talking about her life choices, including her conversion to another faith. I learned a lot from her openness, but to me her story became a sign of change, echoing the story of Annunciation and pointing toward the future to come.
